Shell engine oil for Renault Clio 1.2 16v petrol
Hi,
Could someone in the know please comment on whether this oil is OK for my 2003 Renault Clio 1.2 16v petrol? The oil is "Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40", it says for diesel and gasoline engines, and is fully synthetic.
I have been topping up with a 5w40 halfords fully synthetic for a while so I believe it is OK. The reason I have a slight doubt is because on amazon when I put in my reg, it removes this oil from the results, perhaps suggesting it's not compatible. However eurocarparts reg checker shows it in the results so I think it's just an issue with the amazon checker.
The amazon link is amazon co uk/Shell-Helix-Ultra-5W-40-5L/dp/B004HL1H9Q/
Thanks

Any decent-quality 5w40 will be just fine. Synth and semi-synth are generally preferable, not least because it's ever harder to find decent-quality mineral oils without going to specialist-marketed brands at higher price tags, and the price gap's closed anyway.
I'd go for the £20 Fuchs from this lot, but the £16 G-Force (who?) should be just fine.

I'd say Shel Helix Ultra is a bit overkill for a 1.2 Clio.0
