New kitten was given James Well beloved dry food and felix wet, whilst in the foster carers at cp, we were told he prefers dry, I have kept to same foods but he definitely only eats the dry. I have also tried James wellbeloved wet sachets as they came free with the dry food . I know it's advised to feed wet to boys and am not sure what to try next, he's only 11 weeks and I don't want to upset his tummy.he drinks his water a lot, and doing both wees and poo.
I would like to try raw along side his dry but not sure if he's too young?
Also the raw online is very high post cost unless you buy huge amounts!
I did give a tiny bit of cooked chicken yesterday which he did enjoy!
Any suggestions please.

Dry food is covered in something called animal digest, its basically crack for cats. It is also calorie dense, so cats can become over weight eating relatively small amounts.
Personally I would ditch the dry all together, kittens are incredibly greedy so its very rare for one to refuse any food, however if kitten goes half a day without eating wet you can grind up a small amount of dry and put it on the wet, or a small amount of fortiflora and slowly reduce this.
Natures menu raw is easily available in pets at home and kennel gate. You can also introduce raw using meat chunks, chicken wings, mice etc.0 -
Thanks GwylimT, I was worried about taking away the dry as he's so young, he doesn't even try the wet just sniffs and walks away. I even tried putting it on my finger, but no luck.
Is natures menu raw a good brand? And is it complete or do I need to add anything to it?
He ate the cooked chicken ,so if I try with raw mince do you think that's a good indicator of if he'd eat raw foods ?
I also read raw chicken wings are good for the teeth, would I give it whole or break it up given he's only 11 weeks ? Thank youFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
This is the time in his life when his food likes will be imprinted.....so if you carry on with the dry he may never eat other foods properly as it is so addictive.
It's a great time to offer him some raw food. The odd meal here and here doesn't have to be balanced but you do have to work towards that goal pretty soon. Chop a chicken wing up a bit and see if he will chomp on that. Natures menu is, ok, overpriced in my book but does offer convenience. Have a look here for a much cheaper way to feed raw

Thanks paddy paws ,I've been added to the group and feel more inclined to go raw, will order on Tuesday then will be in for delivery weds. Nutriment do a mixed pack with no delivery charge so will see which he likes, before doing a bigger order.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0

I'm a member of this group - it's FANTASTIC. Raw feeding is serious moneysaving as the cat is healthier, less litter needed & behaviour better too. Mine is MUCH more affectionate since the transition.
I get the meat for the cat from local butcher or supermarket. Turkey gizzard is v nutritious & excellent for cleaning teeth. I feed my cats raw chunks of meat with ground eggshells for calcium (madam refuses bone) & also chicken liver (she won't eat any other liver), also 1 raw egg a week - but feed the raw eggs separately (madam doesn't like sloppy food). Also tinned sardines/pilchards in tomato sauce - 1 tin a week. Feeding human grade food is cheap enough if more offal is given & there is the additional benefit of it being more nutritious than the cuts that humans prefer! Do not bother with expensive - & low taurine - chicken breast.0 -
