Solar panel lease - get out?

We have had endless problems from our leased solar panels, and now want them
removed from our roof, but the maintenance company (legal dept) simply do not respond to my
messages. We have had them on our roof for approximately 2 years, and they have
never worked properly, they have just caused endless problems for us.

Flooding through the roof, blown electrics, defrosted freezer...endless engineer visits...it goes on and on! They simply cannot find out what is wrong with them.

We have never saved us any money and neither have they made Homesun any, as they trip the electrics so often, they are off more than they are on. They have simply cost us money, and been a nightmare...now I want them removed.

The company say the only way out is to buy them, but why would I pay thousands of pounds for something that doesn't work?!

Any useful advice gratefully received.

Welcome to the forum.

Personally I would write - or get a solicitor to write - and give notice that because of the problems they cause, you are going to get them disconnected.

Or take them to the small claims court for damages by flooding and ruined food.

We purchased a house 2 years ago with an existing Homesun solar panel lease, which we had to take on as the new property owners. We are now trying to remortgage as our fixed rate is ending, but Homesun are refusing to supply the standard Council of Mortgage Lenders letter to the new mortgage lender, as they have advised the existing lease is n longer compliant and that we must sign a new lease agreement first. The proposed new lease contains amendments to the 2 clauses we understand to be non compliant , but also contains many other changes, in Homesun's favour. We have stated that we accept the 2 compliance related changes, but not the others and as such are unhappy to sign the new lease. Homesun have then refused to supply the CML letter, meaning the mortgage lender will not proceed with the loan. Do we have reasonable grounds to request to terminate the lease with Homesun early (there are 19 years remaining on the original lease!), on the basis they are behaving unreasonably and we are unable to secure a mortgage on the property as a result? Thanks for any advice.

I think you need to consult a solicitor rather tha relying on the collective wisdom or guesses from the forum.

Agree with the above.

However what are the new clauses the company want included in the lease? Could it be something like making you responsible for damage/repairs etc?
