loose or bagged veg - price

Options
I have just made a discovery I want to share in case it is new to other people too!

When buying vegetables in the supermarket I always compared the price per kg/lb shown and usually bought the loose stuff as it worked out cheaper as well as liking to select for myself. However, today I looked at some bagged stuff and thought it didn't add up - so weighed it on the scales. The bags which were labelled 600g weighed nearly 1kg (and the bags themselves are maybe 10g) which made them considerably cheaper in reality, though not on paper. So, a new complication for my shopping!

Just shows, yet again, how one needs eyes wide open when in shops. I often find the bagged stuff is cheaper than loose, which is counter intuitive

I found recently that some stickered veg was dearer than the in date stuff! Good old Mr T!

I still prefer loose as I can see if it is damaged!

I generally buy loose except broccoli which stays crunchier in the package than if it is loose
