Credit score needed for ford pcp lease

Just returned from ford Bristol street motors. Been offered a great deal on a fiesta on personal contract purchase. I'm just worried about credit checks. I had bad score over the years but I've got my experian score up to 826 now which is in the higher fair region. I've got no negatives and 5 positives, is this likely to get me accepted or not?

Really worried as all seems too good to be true but will find out tomorrow

Credit scores are a bit of a myth. The only person who sees your score is you. Lenders go on your history which may not bear much relation to your score.

Also lenders each have their own scoring system so asking about the score you can see is pretty pointless. The question is how has your credit history been over the past six years? Have you paid all your cards, loans mobile bills etc on time making at least the minimum payment?

The value of the finance is around £10,000 with value of car around £14000. I've got a deposit of £2700 from part exchanging my BMW and ford have contributed £900 so I've got £2600 deposit. I've had quite a lot of debt in past but have cleared most got around £2500 credit card debt and £700 overdraft. I've a couple of late bills two years ago but other than that I've paid on time. Never been late with phone bill and I've never had any sort of car finance.

I'm really worried and not finding out until tomorrow which is annoying, just want to know lol
  • Why are you worrying? If you get it, you get it. If you don't, you don't. It's not life or death.

My old car is going to cost a few £1000 to sort out and I'm being offered loads to part exchange by ford so would all work out very well

In my experience car finance tends to be pretty easy to get as there is an asset to get back if it goes wrong.

There is nothing you can do about it though so worrying achieves nothing.
