Contents Insurance?

Hi all,
Been looking for contents insurance for the first time as me and OH are moving into a rented house on 28/9.
We have been given quotes from £65 to £360 for £35k/£40k cover - nothing particularly valuable or unusual.
I know with car insurance excess and legal cover/courtesy car affects the premium, but what about contents? Sorry this is my first time doing this type of insurance!
What's bad about the £65 quote and good about the £360?

If you go to individual company websites you can try various options regarding excesses and accidental cover to see what effect different combinations create.0

How many bedrooms?
I'd be careful about £35k/£40k
average 3 bed home at least £44k
my guess about your cost is the cover it provides. you can also get unlimited policies.
discounts are sometimes given where you have key operated locks on windows, are in a neighbourhood watch area, have smoke detectors, secuirty alarm, are non-smokers ect0 -
Be carefull to include accidental damage cover it is by far the most likely peril you would be to have need to claim under.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

two bed house but boyf has lots of gadgets! :rotfl:
We won't know until we get in there whether there are key locks on windows, though it is a neighbourhood watch area, we are non smokers and there are smoke detectors.
Yes, I want accidental damage especially for moving day! I'm guessing its mostly down to excesses etc then.
Thanks

You need to check what they consider a "valuable".
Usually this is jewelry, gold, fine art, coins & stamp collections, furs etc.
but I've seen companies with a definition of computers as valuables which changes the picture complete as computers, Hi-fis and TVs are common nowadays.
You need to check out the cover in detail
e.g. what cover do you have for "personal possesions" (this is things like clothes, watches and sports quipement that you take outside the house)?
What cover for valuables?
Is it new for old?
Cash?
freezer contents etc?
What about the excesses?
It's possible that some quotes are simply cheaper than other but
it's also possible that there is a huge difference in cover.
I'm afraid you need to do a bit more legwork to
look at each quote in a bit more detail.0
