Slingbox to TV via laptop

The other day I bought a Slingbox. All connected and working a treat. Now then, I want to be able to connect my laptop to a TV so went down to Maplins and put myself in the hands of the chap and came back with £30 worth of cables. Easy to connect BUT only the sound is coming through not the picture. Is it anything obvious?

    Have you selected the correct input on your TV and switched the laptop to external display screen?

    The wires are all ok how do I turn the laptop to external dispaly screen?

    It will depend on the laptop but it is usually function key + another key.

    Most laptops you press the Fn + f4 keys at the same time, there's usually an icon the function key that look like a TV to show which to press.

    Thank you both so much. On my Toshiba it is Fn + F5.
