PIP Appeal

Options
Can I ask a couple of questions about going to appeal .

1....Do you have to go to another face to face assessment (same place as the original assessment).

2....How long does it take to be sorted out

3....Do you still get paid while it is being sorted.

My OH has just changed from DLA to PIP. He had top rates on both accounts on DLA but has only got standard rate on daily living on PIP. Looking at it, there seems to be some discrepancy
with the points he received for daily living

2....How long does it take to be sorted out That is a question nobody can answer.

3....Do you still get paid while it is being sorted. Should do.

You need to ask for a mandatory reconsideration - ring them ASAP as there is a time limit on this. Then it goes to appeal, then tribunal.

Hi my husband has recently appealed and won on the mobility. It took about 4 months for the court date and another 3 weeks for the backpay, which seems quick in comparison to reports i have read.

You still get the original award whilst you are waiting.

When you say "You still get the original award whilst you are waiting."
Do you mean the old rate or the rate that you have been re-assesed at ?

You will get the award that you are appealing as that overrides any previous awards

Are we entitled to see the report written by the "Medical Professional" when we are assessed for PIP ?

Yes. You can phone on the PIP telephone line and ask for it, but safest to follow up with a letter too. It can take a while to arrive though, so best to put in your MR request in good time as you only have a month from date of your decision.

if you loose pip then no you do not get paid but it will be backdated if appeal goes in your favour. Approx 60 percent win their appeal
