Warranty conditions

I have a 6 year warranty on my car. When it comes to it's first service do I need to have it done by a franchised garage? I know that used to be a condition of keeping the warranty going but I've been told this this doesn't apply now.

It'd make sense to stick with the franchised network, regardless of the small print, in the policy.
It will say somewhere that makers own components should be used, all it needs is for maybe a non-make filter, or something else to be used.
When you have a problem, they have a 'get out'.
In any case, the main dealer MIGHT just have attractive fixed price servicing, as well as access to up to date information, from the brand & work out not too much more £$£$
& if you intend to keep for the 6years, main dealer service history will be something buyers will appreciate - plus it ought to stand tou in well, if the next car is same make, as you'll have built up a relationship with the dealer.

I believe the only condition is that the brand parts are used, doesn't matter who carries out any work. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0

No it does not have to be serviced at a main brand dealer. To ensure your warranty remains it should be serviced to the standard of the main dealer and use main brand parts. Bodywork warranty often requires a 'yearly check' by a main dealer but rust claims are minimal now anyway.
Garages which subscribe to http://www.goodgaragescheme.co.uk/ provide paperwork which indicates the car has been serviced to the manufacturers standard, you will pay lower labour rates, very likely get a better personal service and put your money into the community rather than a big company.
I would suggest this type of service for the common brands Ford, Vauxhall etc anything of BMW, Merc quality stick to the main dealer.0 -
The parts used don't have to be main dealer branded... As long as they are OE specification then it dont matter where they are bought from.0
