Options
Hi all,

Anyone please help. I have tried WD40 without any luck.

I have not opened lock for a few months and there may be some rust on it.

Thanks

Turn it upside down and flood the barrel with oil. If that fails, cut it off

Will take some time to soak in. For the price of a lock & hasp, cut it off, or remove the lot & replace

Assuming its a padlock try squeezing the lock in the same way as you close it. This may free it.

If it's a lock that's fitted onto the door with a keyhole you can usually remove the screws from the door hinges and take the door off as most sheds are fitted with external hinges just held in place with woodscrews. You will then be able to remove the lock. If it's a hasp and staple then bolt cutters would be my first choice as the padlock will be hardened steel.
  • Just to let you know I got a bolt cutter from Wilko for £12 using my LTS vouchers from the TNS postal survey so it cost me nothing.

Worked fine and blasted padlock is now in the dustbin.
