Funny noise

I've just bought a 2009 i10 (Hyundai). Since it was delivered a week ago there has been an intermittent buzzy sound coming from engine area on the drivers side. The sellers, ie dealers, took it back to their mechanic then returned it saying they couldn't hear the noise. Well all I can say the must be deaf.
Anyone any ideas what it could be ? The car runs very well and only has done 39K

  • There are a lot of clowns around at present.

Maybe one of them got inside your engine bay and is making funny noises.
  • when the ignitions on? when the cars running? when the keys out of ignition? permanent noise? 'flashing' noise? wasp?

Next time it happens, try adjusting the headlight aim knob, if this stops it, then you have a very common fault on the i10 where the headlights decide to adjust themselves apparently randomly.

  • Many thanks Strider.I'll give it ago.
Just to be clear, the noise occurs when the engine is running (for the other replies that is) I'm no mechanic which is why I asked.

I guess you could also turn the adjustment knob and see if the noise is the same.

  • Take your phone and video/record where you think its coming from, post it on you tube with the link. We might be able to work it out.

Our CEO once had his bently stripped and in the shop several times at the cost of thousands only to find a leaf got in the air vent somehow and that was buzzing lol.

The headlight aim switch re-setting itself is a common fault on the early i10's and should be fixed free by a dealer.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
  • Thanks Strider. You were right it is that switch. I'm very grateful to know what it is.
iolanthe07- The car has a 59 plate. would a main dealer really fix it with no charge ?
    My thanks again

^^ You'll have call them and find out, it's a well know fault and I know others have been fixed for free, but I don't know if that was under warranty.

My wife had the same problem in an 09 i10 out of warranty and it was fixed with no charge.
