I'm beginning to rethink the painted bathroom.

    I've found this at B&Q.

    Thoughts anyone?

For your kitchen, I would consider a wooden slat to tone with the floor. A brightly coloured (washable) rug to break it up. You can have a blue bathroom without a seaside feel. I have a plain mirror and a stained wooden crate to hold white towels as my only accessories. All toiletries apart from soap are all tidied away in a cabinet. Very easy to clean.

I would not go for paper personally as eventually the corners start to curl with the steam.

TBH, I've already pretty much given up on the black & white paper, as it's rather stark.

I'm leaning back toward blown vinyl paper, liberally coated with bathroom paint.

As to the steam, they have fitted an extractor fan, to draw out the steam.

I don't know the size of your bathroom, but I have a fan and I know paper would fail within a year in my bathroom.
    Why paper at all??

We used Dulux Jade white which is a lovely pale blue in both our bathrooms and our downstairs loo (we like it that much!). Silk finish is absolutely fine if you run your fan when showering and open a window for 15-20 mins afterwards. No problems with paint peeling or mould.

    Tiles/plastered painted walls.
Definitely not wallpaper for a bathroom.

    But that's just me.

Painting directly onto the plaster. Got to admit I've never heard of anyone papering their bathroom, even if painting over it. Though it might be a 'thing' and I've just never come across it.

Bathroom wallpaper used to be very popular in the days before showers. It was perfectly possible to paper a bathroom and not have it coming off the walls as there's much less steam from a bath. It's the popularity of showers and the resultant steam which has seen people move away from wallpaper in the bathroom.

The plaster is not exactly flawless.

There's quite a few blemishes, that I'll be using the paper to cover.

As for the steam, there's an extractor fan at the opposite end of the bath from the taps and shower head, to draw out the steam.
