DFS Cat Marks

Hi Purchased a small 2 seater leather sofa from DFS. Within days the sofa is covered in marks from our cat. The cat isn't scratching the furniture its just walking across it. There are also indents in the arm and head area, the sofa is less than a month old. It costs £700+.

DFS are saying that the issue with the cat marks isn't anything to do with them.

I would have presumed that a quality sofa (as claimed) would have been able to withstand a small cat walking across it.

We have 2 sofas from Sofology and they have not had any problems.

Any views?

The surface is scratched or punctured. They are all very small as the cats isn't scratching the furniture its just walking across it. Its just a small domestic cat.

Did you read any reviews of DFS leather sofas before buying?

I know it is too late now but DFS have a very poor reputation for quality and after sales service.

Unfortunately you get what you pay for and you don't get a quality leather sofa for £700.

Take off vat, profit, commission for sales staff and you are looking at £200-300 cost price to the retailer.

We have an 8 year old leather suite and a hefty cat. No marks other than a scratched chair arm when she mis-judged her leap onto the window sill and had to dig her crampons in.

Sounds like DFS use poor quality leather.
  • We have a 5 year old DFS corner sofa and two big cats. One scratch mark but that was an accident on the whole it's standing up fairly well. We did choose the middle level of quality of leather on the sofa...... Did you go for the bog standard leather?
