IPad third generation query

I've got an older iPad, (third generation) now that ios10 is out it seems as if mine is too old to download and install it. I am worried that it will no longer be secure, does anyone know if it is still safe to use this in the longer term please?I am currently running on ios 9.3.5. Will Apple still bring out security updates for my iPad?

Yes iOS 10 is only available to any devices with the Lightning connector so you won't be able to upgrade I'm afraid.

However you'll be fine to carry on using your iPad 3rd Generation for some time to come; if there are any flaws found in iOS 9.3.5 Apple will likely release small updates to 'patch' them.

One downside is, as time passes, app updates will start to become less frequent as developers focus on newer versions of iOS.

Even some with the lightning connector can't be upgraded, the Mini 1st gen is one.
  • It was nothing to do with the connector, Apple dropped support for the A5 and A5X cpu chip with IOS 10.
