How Many Coats of silk to cover cupboard doors?

hey, i am no expert at painting lol but i do enjoy it.

I am currently painting my cupboards and walls. ive started my cupboards with silk, i can tell it will be a good few layers i just want to make sure or simply read some suggestions. cheers

From what are your cupboards made? If wood, you should use a paint for wood and two coats on top of undercoat is normally enough. If they are melamine (or other shiny surface) you need special primer and paint. For walls, again two coats is normally enough unless you are covering a dark colour with a light one, in which case I always do a coat of white and then two of my chosen colour.

It depends on what they are solid wood, .melamine etc the existing finish, e.g. high gloss etc and the existing and new colour etc, Its all about the prep seen it look good also seen it look awful ?

its just wood, i already painted everything with silk. and 2nd coat of silk again its looks good, but would this still be ok, and will adding varnish at the very end make the paint more ... durable i guess.?

im just hoping that if i apply enough silk now it will be good lol next time i will at least learn from my mistakes

some of my silk paint is pealing and it tends to not stay as bright as it should/
what should i do?
as all my cupboards now have a 2nd coat of silk but all i have is silk and mat white.

Add more coats of silk won't sort it.

What were the doors previously painted with? No doubt an oil based paint, eggshell or gloss.

What preparation did you do?

ive had to sand it down, although the silk would not come off i just sand as much as i could and try to get off as much silk as i could and then i had re-added mat ontop, but their are lots of parts whereit is just mat over silk. even thogh i have sanded that silk, it just wouldnt come off, even with a scrapper.

yeah just sorted it, i am having to sand it as much as i can and make it smooth put an pva glue prime on top and then coat with mat or just gloss whichever. thanks dude
