I just bought this - kids party ideas (Halloween, Xmas, Birthdays)....

I don't know if anyone else is interested but I just bought one of these packages

http://www.kidsmysteryparties.co.uk/

I posted last week as it is my daughters 5th and we wanted to get a disco and a bouncy castle, after being quoted a shocking £150 for an hour and a half ( am I in the wrong business?????) I started looking around for more ideas as, if I am honest, I am absolutley carp at stuff like this and being creative.

I have found one of those electronic pass the parcel machines on eBay for £7.50 (they still have a couple left) so I bought one of these (no paper or worrying about how many layers you have on the parcel) and it'll do the rounds amongst us mums. I also bought lots of xmas pressies from the same people so that is another job done (they were cheap!!)

Anyhow, I have had the party stuff come through, it has given me some great ideas and I am now going to 'take the plunge' and do the party myself. I have a few bits to buy but considering how much I have saved on the castle and the disco I think it'll be worth it. I wanted to share it with you, I got personalised invitations - in fact I bought the Princess and because I have boys coming as well she sent me the princess and the pirate parties. It has given me ideas for a party I would not have otherwise thought of so I am quite happy with this for £7.

I know you are all going to say I could have done all of this myself but I really don't have the time and my mind is not geared to doing stuff like this at all, I am in no way creative and neither are my friends, none of us could have thought of this kind of thing and we usually go down the entertainer/clown route, so I think it has been money well spent!! A big thumbs up from me anyway. i hope this helps someone.

That sounds fab - the spy party sounds perfect for my son! Thanks for this.
  • Blue-Monkey, that sounds great, good luck with your party - I did a party at a playcentre this year for my sons 5th and it cost me £150. for all of his class (inlcuding food) for 2 hours - don't get me wrong, I think it went down well and all had a great time, but I think I will do something at home next time and I might well use these.

I would be interested to know if anyone goes with the spy party, my son (whow would be 6 on his next birthday) loves spy stuff, but I am wondering if it would be too hard for them...so would love to hear any comments if anyone else goes with it...

  • No problem, it all helps. The local soft play her eis £9 a head and there are about 40 kids coming in all (ouch!!). I will post back AFTER the event though and if I am a nervous wreck I will say so. I think that I might need something for the little ones who are not interested in a tresure hunt but I think the general idea is that you read the clues out and they all run off and suss out each clue one at a time between all the kids so they are all involved. There is not many clues and there are little games to play as well but I think it'll be enough to keep them occupied and I think it has given me more confidence to do it myself more than anything - a few friends have said they will help out so that is fab. I think it'll be more interesting than anything else and I'll do a little disco with a CD player at the end and turn the lights off, LOL, it'll be November so it'll be dark!! Her birthday falls on the same weekend as firework night does - I can tell it is going to be expensive as she gets older.....

  • Thanks for this link, I am going to do my daughters 7th party at home this year as it's on Dec 5th and is such an expensive time of year so I will certainly look more at the site, I like the look of the fairy & halloween parties . Dawn

That sounds great! What did you get in your pack and was it good quality?

  • Some fab invitations and thank you notes, Spy School training (loads of stuff to keep the kids amused). A clue hunt that looks a lot of fun with ridles and clues to make them use the spy training. I've read it through and it's going to be great, my son (8) is really excited about it.

He can't wait to give out his invitations in the playground next week.

  • As beerbellynomore says, and yes good quality, the invitations printed off lovely on my 'work' printer, hee-hee! Not sure if my home one would have done them justice. Very pleased the clues are imaginitive I could have never thought of all of this. My kids are looking forward to their party in October. I'll let you know how it goes.

The 'Who killed Santa?' game looks good too as does the Egyptian party anyone tried that one? Love to hear about it.

  • LOL, we was talking about the who killed Santa party but as the kids are only 5 we thought this might be a little cruel and give them nightmares. it is certainly one for the future though, my children are around 4 and 5 and I think the clues are something they could cope with if they had help, the invitations are lovely as well and they are send in a format you can add your own details so that you don't have to write on them. Even better!! It is not bad for the money - around the same price as you'd pay for a book I guess.
