Regarding the £1k a month pay in to avoid the £10 monthly charge.
Can you pay in the £1k via faster payments from say Santander any time in the month.
But more importantly can you withdraw it again the same day via faster payments and still comply with their T&C?

If you have another account with First Direct like a savings account, then the £10 per month doesn't exist :)

I had a FD account a couple of years ago but closed it purely because I couldn't stand the UI of the online and mobile banking. Halifax is much more visually appealing, Barclays even more so, though I don't hold an account.

Yeah I'm not too keen on FD's app to be fair, I mean it's based on HSBC's design too but it's just basic, there's not a lot you can do with it and it's so buggy. Although I did like Lloyds Bank and Halifax's app, but they never optimised it for iPhone 6/+ and above really, and those models are over two years old now

I got refused the first time, accepted the 2nd time.

How the hell do you deposit cash to First Direct? This is a reason you don't see so many of your peers banking with them, they like to just walk into a local branch and deposit cash

You're a ridiculously positive person. You'd think their CS had cured cancer

Not ridiculously positive at all, just a young person finding their way into financial matters at a young age, which is to be complemented and not ridiculed. How was your financial acumen at 17?
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
