I know its going to be obvious to anyone with half a brain cell but i must have a quarter of one, cause i dont know what IR is. ???
Don't worry, I often go blank!
Introductory Rate!0 -
Yes, and we have to be 'pedants' here because the rate on this account isn't 'Fixed' - although it started at "5.5% for 12 months" - becasue it was raised to 5.65% from 2 September. It was marketed as a "fixed rate" account but said in the small print somewhere that it would be: 'at least' that rate for 12 months.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

[This is known as making a 'Bill Payment' - and I assume your minimum payments are set up by Direct Debit from your Lloyds account - otherwise you could be making direct payments to the cards in this way straight from the cahoot account. DDs have definite advantages of course - they handle payment for you and you cannot make a late payment this way. But when making larger payments - eg paying off balances, the old 'BACS' method is very convenient I find]
It's good when help works both ways. I was always under the impression that you could only channel payments through your current account and hadn't realised that you could pay direct to the credit card from a savings account.
I have three cards currently, Halifax, First Direct and Egg.
The only one whereby I pay by DD from Lloyds is to Egg, as they requested. So I can now delay slightly the payments to Halifax and FD gaining a little bit more interest on both, by cutting out the Lloyds route and going direct to the card.
(I must say I have been favourably impressed by FD, very polite, friendly. Although my income is modest, I was pleased with their credit card limit and even more pleased with the one I got for my husband. That all came about by asking originally for the £25 free money for opening a current account with them. The offer is now closed, as far as I know, however on the completed application form they sent for us to sign, without even asking for a credit card at that stage, they told us how much we could borrow anyway, so we went for it. So if ever they make another promo, it might be worth applying for it just to see what money they will give you. Incidentally I've never transferred my current account to them, but they seem quite happy.)0 -
mary,
Glad to be of any help I can. Just remember with making the payments yourself to allow enough banking days or it's 'late payment fee' or 'no interest free' AND 'late payment fee' potentially... >:(
BTW It looks at though you haven't quite got the hang of using 'quotes'. Anything that you want to appear in a little 'buff' boxLike this!
should simply be contained between the two 'bookends' "["quote"]" and "[/"quote]". In general the 'backslash' "/" signifies the end of the control editing feature being employed. For instance to italicise something put "["i"]" at the beginning and "[/"i"]" at the end. Atlernatively just highlight the word(s) you what to appear in that way and click on the "I" button in the 'Add YABBC tags:' area
Good Luck with it!
[And to see how someone has accomplished some weird or wonderful effect in a message simply select "quote" from above it and you will see all their text and associated tagging codes appearing in your message coposition box.].....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Milarky,
Thanks for the help. Yes I log all my pending dates for transferring on a calendar about a month at a time and double check them all. Not planning on giving away any hard earned cash.
Having followed your instructions I think I've just about mastered the quote/unquote system.Good Luck with it!
orGood Luck with it
I had already sussed out how to quote a whole letter from someone, but think I probably cancelled a bracket somewhere which probably mucked up the system.
Hope to get it right from now on. Many thanks0
