Help Buying a Used Car

Hi All,

I was originally going to look into purchasing an automatic but after researching prices, they are extremely expensive. Therefore, I have decided to get some refresher lessons in a manual.

I am looking into either going for a Toyota Aygo or Yaris or a Ford Fiesta

Has anyone had experience with buying online from places such as DrivetheDeal or Jam Jar or Broadspeed?

  • Why not finance with a 0% credit card if you can get one? Find a local garage who you think are reputable and see what they can source for you. Other than that auto trader and fish 4 can filter searches for auto's

Toyota - well made i've heard
Renault - common but I've heard they have poor electrics
    Peugeot - I've got a 205 so I'm biased, I like them
Ford - OK I think, if a little bland
VW - Solid German build quality (have you considered SEAT Ibiza or Skoda Fabia? Same car. Made in the same factory I am led to believe. Cheaper due to the badge)

Reseach models you like on Parkers and I find Honest John is good too (google them)

    Hi All,

I have been researching whether to buy a new or used car and have come to the conclusion I will get a used / nearly new car. Thanks to all those who have replied to my posts on here. They have been really informative and helpful. I would like an automatic and am interested in the following vehicles; Toyota Aygo / Yaris, Renault Clio, Peugeot 206, Ford Fiesta, Volkswagon Polo

I am going to get the car on finance and have been looking at the cost of those specific cars online. I have struggled to find many cars which are automatic.

    Can anyone recommend some sites?

    Bump...anyone else?

    :confused::confused::confused:

Toyota main dealer search shows about 10 matches for used Aygo automatics £7,000-£8,500.

I would definately check out drivethedeal for the cost of a new one.

You may struggle to find auto small cars - they are a very rare breed.

  • There's a deal worth knowing about on Ford's until 28th Sep - if you order Ka, Fiesta or Focus Zetec Climates by 28th Sept you can get price protection against any changes that might come out in their new pricelists and bonus schemes due for release 1st October...we can get orders placed at Ford dealers until 28th Sep for new Fiesta 1.4 Zetec Climate 3dr Durashifts for £8360 inc 12m tax/delivery, and add £315 if you want a metallic paint choice.
If you contact us direct and quote ref MSEJE/1809 we'll knock another £50 off too. You'll be first and only registered owner (we have MSE permission to post on here as a recommended safe broker, to help with spec' and pricing advice)
    Hope that helps!

My sister bought her Honda Jazz from Drive the Deal. The supplying dealer was in Birmingham and they delivered the car to her door in Kent. She thought it was excellent as the dealer also included mats without being asked and also put paint protection on the car without being asked.

The local Honda dealer was a complete tool and didn't believe the price and started spouting off about the risk of buying things off the internet!

    Thanks

I have heard good things about Jam Jar but they have cars in a limited range of colours, none I want.

Someone else mentioned Drive the Deal to me as well
