Ford Fiesta 1.6 2007 over 100k
Hi,
I'm thinking about px'ing my car for a Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S 3dr.
It has had a new cambelt and pump at 97k and is in great condition. It has just over 100k miles and is a petrol car 2007
Last serviced at 98,000 miles, Full service history
Someone I know just told me I'd be mad to get this as of the mileage, would you agree? Thanks for the help!

Wouldn't bother me if the car's in otherwise good nick and has been looked after.
My daily car has 130K on now (just ticked over 129999 yesterday) and my wife's car has 106K on. My last car had 113K on. My dad's car has 115K on. I've had plenty of petrol cars with north of 150K on.
Mileage is only part of the story. At that age and budget buy on condition, condition and condition only.0 -
The mileage is perfect, too: 12K/year, say, so it will have been serviced properly (a lot of people ignore the "or 12 months" bit so lower mileage cars don't get serviced), presumably isn't a dog as it wouldn't have got to that mileage as a going concern if it weren't, and will have probably lived a relatively easy life on longer runs. If the condition is good and everything works, have it (and it'll be cheap, presumably).
I've run cars to 180K miles, and my current car is on 125K.0 -
Thanks so much for your help! I feel much happier to go ahead and get the car now! thanks again0

Check the tyres and wheels well. Decent tyres on a 16" rim will be north of £80 a corner. Not sure what size wheels will be on that car if it's 15" they'll be a lot cheaper. If it's still on the original Ford rims and are 16", I don't think they put 17" on then but I maybe wrong, there's a good chance they'll be buckled.
You may not do it at the time but as it's a 3 door, check the front seats come forward to allow access into the back. The plastic handles snap as do the cables.0 -
Thank you, I didn't know to check these. The rims are 16" and look good in the pictures, but I will look closer when I see the car.0

As long as the car is looked after I can't see it an issue.
I sold my car in Aug 2014 and it was well looked after 174,000 miles, full service history some of the stamps were with the Honda dealer and regularly bought genuine parts so kept receipts.
If the car has been fully serviced and the price is right go for it.
Worth checking the clutch and gearbox as that is a costly repair, I had mine changed at 140,000 but that was due to it being motorway miles so worth checking that on the car you purchasing.0 -
I'd rather have 100k miles with a proper service history than 30k miles with nothing but neglect. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

Just a bit of advice from someone who owns a similar 'hot hatch' (1.6 Citroen C2 VTS). Don't expect it to be comfy or frugal on motorways. They are little gas guzzlers! Best to get consumables (tyres etc) online. Lucky the cam belt and pump have been done, they can be pricey and as others have said, keep an eye on the clutch.
£185 VED a year like mine
Most importantly, forget the running costs and enjoy! These little rollerskates are a blast to drive!0
