Theres 3 types of durectory listing:
Ex Directory (Phone Book)
Ex Directory Online + Phone Book
Visable on Both
It may be you are only excluded from the phone book.0 -
Or you supplied your phone number as part of your contact details on EBay without even thinking about it. Buyers/sellers can then pull your details if needed.0

The number I gave Ebay: 00000000000
That's the same number I gave to almost anyone (except my banks). Ebay cannot be trusted with your info (obviously) and they have a record of dodgy security and even dodgier scamming which is partly Ebay's fault.
If you must give a number to an Ebayer give them a number for one of the free SIMs around and that's once you've checked their Feedback.
The advantage of limiting your number is when you do get a scam call you know straight away if it's a bit dodgy.0 -
The only numbers I give out online are an 070 personal number (35p/min) routed to my mobile or an 0871 (10p/min) number routed to my ATA. These are the only numbers I give to companies also, and they both come with free anonymous caller reject. When I receive a call on either number the persons number gets emailed to me.
The only exceptions are friends, family and companies who provide me with an 01/02 number to contact them on.0 -
Where did you get the 070 number from, Carl? I thought these had all been discontinued.
More and more companies (like Post Office credit card) have a geographical number that either disconnects you or tells you to dial an 0845/0870 number if you call from the UK - even if you withold the CLI. Grr! I'd love to make them pay even more to contact me!!!0 -
https://www.flextel.com do them0

Cheers SemperFi - I remember now: personal numbers weren't banned, but Ofcom ruled against revenue sharing. I think I'll grab one anyway, though.0

Yeah it was flextel where I got mine from, the calls you receive earn you vouchers that you can use against more memorable numbers but there is no revenue sharing on them.
To be honest, I don't want to make any money from them, I just want those who make me pay to have to pay more.0
