  • I've done a search to look for what others were thinking about 'going direct' re-funeral.
I'd like to pay now for a direct funeral. I want the sort of despatch I want...a cheap one.
The only firm I can find that do this is Pure https://www.purecremation.co.uk
Has anyone else dealt with Pure Cremation ?
Just looking for recommendation / advice.
  • You need to search more. For example Quantock Funeral services charge £1,350.
  • Pure Cremation are just one of several companies that are offering direct cremation. I believe that they are the only independent company that specialise in direct cremation and offer a national service, so it doesn't matter where you live and of course unlike a local funeral director, should you move out of your current area you will still be covered.

The larger funeral plan providers such as, Golden Charter, Dignity & Coop are now all offering direct cremation, although I'm not sure that the Coop offer a pre-paid plan version if this is what you are looking for.

Pure Cremation are registered with the Funeral Planning Authority, so if you are shopping around check that the company you choose is registered, as this means that you will get additional protection and can be sure of the level of service provided.

It's always good to shop around, but Pure Cremation are a leading company in direct cremation.
  • RE: PRE-PAID FUNERAL PLANS

Hi, can anyone recommend a company for pre-paid funeral plans as there seem to be so many and also different and conflicting views.....:j
    Thanks in advance.
  • Hi, yes I would make sure that the company is registered with the Funeral Planning Authority, Dignity have just reduced their prices by up to £340 and if you are looking for a cremation they are one of the few companies that guarantee that there will be no more to pay for your funeral directors services and cremation fees.

If you are looking to pay monthly I would look at the Coop as they have a promise that should you die after the 12 months there will be nothing more to pay for your funeral.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi, I have a 2nd holiday home in Spain, can you advise would Avalon be the best for me, as we spend on average ever 6 to 8 weeks going over for approx 7-10 days and therefore feel if anything happened to us whilst in Spain we need a plan that will cover this. Are there any other companies that are better, as I believe Avalon is one of the most expensive, but happy to pay if this is the best one. Alternatively would it be better to have a UK plan only and then have my travel insurance cover repatriation?

Afraid i can,t answer your question but what age are you?. Obviously as you get older your travel insurance and the provisions it covers will become increasingly expensive, especially if you've travelled with pre-existing conditions.

Also look at your travel insurance terms with a critical eye and ask yourself if you or your spouse will be able to cope with its possibly complicated conditions when you're in the shock of an unexpected bereavement. You won't want to be expected to jump through all kinds ofBureaucratic hoops in that emotional state so read the terms and conditions carefully first.

Golden Leaves also offer funeral plans that have the option to use in Spain and the UK.
Check your travel insurance policy very carefully for repatriation.
