Greyhound Cramp

We have two greyhounds - aged 7 and 9 - and they both occasionally get cramp in their legs. It probably happens about once a month but anyone who has experienced the greyhound scream of death at 3am will understand it can be quite distressing! They will settle down again after a couple of minutes of rubbing and attention.
I would say 50% of the time they are completely fine next day but the other half there is a bit of limping for a day or two so obviously causing some discomfort.
I don't think they are dehydrated at all and it doesn't follow any particularly long exercise - just seems a bit random.
Does anyone have any top tips for how to prevent it happening?

A friend gave her rescued ex racer bananas as the cramp is sometimes caused by a slight potassium deficiency. It's apparently a method used in racing kennels.

Bathe them in a bath of Epsom salts.0

Join a hound specific forum, such as that run by Greyhound Gap. The latter has lots of experienced hound people, who will be able to advise you.0
