Removal of gas meter

If someone caps off their gas, is it now a policy that the energy company you are with will seek to remove the gas meter? Thanks.

I'm sure each company will have their own policy. As the equipment belongs to them, I would have thought they'll try and get it back.0

How would they know you have capped it off? The cap fits under the nut so unless you post a notice? Also no meter reader is ever going to look / care. They will still be getting a standing charge. We have bought houses where the gas has been capped off, one a repo and one had a leak and had been capped at the meter rather than finding and fixing the leak. Both still had a meter and a supplying company.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0
