Parking Eye Adelphi hotel

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice how I can proceed to appeal a parking fine. I had paid to park in the car park behind the Adelphi hotel in Liverpool managed by Parking Eye. I was back at my car just before the ticket expired but my daughter had recently been to the doctors as she kept being dizzy and having fainting turns and she was prescribed medication. She was feeling ill as we got back to the car so we sat for just over 20mins in the car whilst she had a drink until i felt reassured that she was well enough for me to drive. I have since received a letter in the post requesting payment as there was a photograph taken of my car entering and leaving the car park. I have appealed via the website and they are now requesting proof of the reason I gave for not immediately driving off. I have asked my GP for a letter but they will not give me one. Any ideas how I can proceed would be very welcome.

I have asked my GP for a letter but they will not give me one.

Is it they will not give you one (Data protection act) or they will not give her one (unless payment?) or they will not issue one full stop.

I suggest take a photo of her medication if you still have it, and attach that and explain that the GP will not provide a letter but the medication label shows the date prescribed. If the daughter is a child, mention her age and that the driver was worried about her.

Do not name the driver (we hope you have not). You also need to get help back here at POPLA stage.

Can you tell us if the PCN has a blank space near the end of page one (as if a short paragraph is missing) OR is it full of wording and includes '29 days...Protection of Freedoms Act...we will have the right...to keeper liability'?

    Which version please?

And what is the gap in days, between the 'date of event' and 'date issued'?

We would usually advise getting this cancelled by the landowner, but as this is the Adelphi you would be totally wasting your time just like Parking Eye, money is their only priority!

Was there a facility to purchase extra time? If not I would expect mitigation to win at court.

Car parking with charges up to £12 for 24 hours.

  • Unfortunately I didn't still have the medication as she had come to the end of it by the time I received the letter. The letter does have the full paragraph on the bottom and I have already stupidly put my name on the appeal letter!

I would therefore email them a signed statement confirming the illness (signed by your daughter if she's not a child, or by a third party like her other parent, school nurse etc., if she is a child). Just something to back up your story. Think of someone who can corroborate what you are saying, then email:

info@parkingeye.co.uk with the PCN ref xxxxxx/xxxxxx and 'further information for appeal' in the subject line.
