First time buyer again?

Bought 1st house in 1999, sold it in 2000 and moved overseas. Returned to the UK in 2016. No credit history, have to start over. I don't suppose there's any chance I would be considered a 1st time buyer again? Although credit history was wiped I am assuming there would stillbe record somewhere of me being on title for a property, even if it was 16-17 years ago - can anyone confirm this? Many thanks in advance.

I think it depends on the lender's criteria, and some will agree and others won't. Best to deal with a broker who can get you the best deal regardless of status.
I think you would probably not be able to take advantage of the govt schemes though. But actually I have no real knowledge of these.0 -

* mortgage lenders? They have different criteria so most will consider you a FTB but not all.
* the government for HTB scheme? [STRIKE]Yes you qualify if you currently do not own anywhere in the world[/STRIKE]edit: "do not own, and never have owned any interest in land, whether in the United Kingdom or elsewhere,..."
* the Gov SDLT relief scheme (or has this ended?): No, you are not a FTB
* estate agents? Yes they'll consider you a FTB
So who do you want to convince and why?0 -
i think the main distinction is ftb = no chain, someone with property to sell = chain so you'd be considered a ftb in most people's eyes unless you're trying to qualify for some scheme.0

I had joint ownership of a house until 2008 and have just bought one this year, the bank considered me a first time buyer. I couldn't get a help to buy isa though.0
