Edit: I've found out that the app is the inbuilt Photos app, so why does it no longer launch automatically? thanks.

Original message:

Just wondering what's going on here. Previously I could connect my mobile to my laptop and some sort of program would automatically open allowing me to select the images on my mobile to download.

Today I tried this again and the program didn't open. Instead I navigated to the phones images, copied them and pasted them into the laptop.

So I can do what I want but I'm wondering what happened to the other method. I had a big Windows 10 update a week ago - could it have changed this? I've no idea what program it was that opened, so I can't have a poke around in it's settings - I have not downloaded any additional apps on this laptop so it's some inbuilt program.

Any ideas?

Windows 10 has changed the file association options so your program no longer automatically opens. Windows 10 want to do something else.

Thanks. I managed to find the appropriate setting in:

    All Settings/Devices/AutoPlay

I made sure "Autoplay" was 'on' and choose "Import Photos and Videos (Photos)" in the dropdown for my phone.

    Now works as before.

    Cheers.
