I took out car insurance with go skippy about 3 months ago. I paid a deposit and I'd been with them for about a month so paid my first premium. They kept asking for all these documents from myself and my dad who was a named driver on my policy.
I called them up and asked if they received everything ok which they did. They asked me extra questions like do I have any criminal convictions, which I do and replied yes to that over the phone, yet it didn't ask me this when I joined using confused.com.
They then tell me they can't insure because of the type of conviction I have and will have to cancel my policy! Bear in mind this wasn't asked for on the confused website and I questioned them why. So in theory I'd been driving around with my kids in which i would say as an invalid insurance policy!
So just to clarify, the insurance was cancelled and I asked if I was due any money back, they refunded me about £26.00!! Am I right in thinking that I should get my deposit back on this as they cancelled it theirselves and I was mislead?? I paid a deposit of £175 and about £80 for my first months premium. I am yet to question them about this as I didn't think it was right in my eyes.
The only trouble with them as they are so rude on the phone and it seems like you get nowhere when talking to them. Any ideas what to do would be appreciated.
Thanks !

You will have agreed you did not have a criminal record when taking out the policy ( often by agreement their assumptions were correct).
Alternatively if you can prove you never mislead them then do everything to get them to remove this cancellation from your record ( hopefully your criminal record will eventually be spent, but a cancelled policy remains on your record for ever more meaning it could be difficult and expensive to find anyone to cover you)0 -
The option wasn't there to ask me that ?
They cancelled it theirsevles i had no say in the matter.0 -

Yes it is. I just started a dummy quote to check, it's under the claims/motoring convictions questions. This was on a mobile, I'm assuming the question set wouldn't be less on a desktop site.0 -
If that's the case then proceed with your complaint and take it all the way.
You might want to contact confused directly if you genuinely believe the question wasn't asked, they will be the ones to look through previous versions of the website/question set to see if it wasn't there.
Eldon (go skippy) will just receive whatever confused have sent them, they will say confused have sent them "no" to the question about convictions.
Therefore your complaint is against confused.0
