£19 early repayment fee

Around new year time I went into my local Currys store and made a purchase of two items, a sat nav and a camcorder.
I had spent around £1000 and had cards with me to purchase the two items "cash".
The sales man asked me if I wanted the facility of "interest free" option and I was extremely verbal as to how I do not want these items to cost me any extra at all if I used this "interest free" option.
He was very adamant that this option was free and wouldn't cost me if I re payed it off on time.
I have just received my total repayment figure off H F C Bank and it includes an "early repayment" figure of £19.
I have rang Currys head office and of course they say I should have read the paperwork that came with the items but as I believed the salesman I didn't do this.
I have rang H F C Bank and ranted a bit about this but have paid the full amount of £666 16 to get it off my back.
I made a remark about "how do I get around this E R F? what if I timed it to the second and was neither late or early" (being a bit flippant) but he was clear that if I didn't pay it by the time on the letter I would be charged interest anyway!
I would like it to be known that if you think you are getting this repayment option FREE then think again!!!
Rant over!!
