Drinks at airport?

Does anyone know if it's worth our while taking a bottle of diluted squash or whatever to the airport with us?
I know you can't take more than 100ml liquid thru security, but at what point do you pass thru security?
Is it the next step after check in?
It's so long since I've flown anywhere I can't remember!
Supposing we have to wait an hour or so before check in we'll probably be quite thirsty (after a 2 hour drive to the airport). Hopefully will also cut down on the number of drinks we have to buy in the airport too!! I'm gonna take some butties to save buying airport food, I'm sure they can't confiscate them

After check-in you go through passport control and then through to security. It is here where you will need to dispose of your drinks. I have seen many people chugging their water down before going through! After going through security you can buy over-priced drinks and food and take them on-board. However, this is nothing compared to prices you will pay if you are flying on a budget airline

Have a great flight!0 -

I'd check up on that too. I think I've seen food confiscated, not 100% sure so best be safe than sorry.0 -
You could just take a small bottle of concentrated squash, and either cups or an empty bottle then top it up with water from the fountains, as travellingbum suggests.
Don't take a 2 litre (or 1 litre) bottle through with only 100ml of liquid in it though. You might get away with it, but they might take it off you, depending on the person on duty. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
I had a litre bottle with a "dribble" of water in the bottom which I was planning to fill once thru security. This was confiscated as it exceeded the 100ml limit. No amount of discussion would change the outcome !!! I guess it just depends who is on duty0

My dad took some sandwiches on a EasyJet flight and security wanted to confiscate them. So he scoffed them on the spot! The man without a signature.0

there are quite a few branches of boots that are past passport control and of course promise high street prices and you can use your advantage card as well so saving money as well0

Hopefully whatever we take with us will have been eaten before check in!
Don't want to spoil our appetites for the wonderful inflight breakfast  - paying for it so we might as well save some space!
Will maybe take a couple of small bottles of water and drink them before we go thru, then refill after security.:wave:0 -

I have recently flown from Stanstead to Greece and people were taking small travel sized bottles with squash in, these were easily seen through the clear bags and were allowed through, food was also allowed through, we took sandwiches because out flight was at 4.00am and we didn't know what was going to be open, if anything, they were in our hand luggage, we didn't "advertise" that we had them, just left them there for security to pick up on, my friends bag was looked through and nothing was said about them."Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0

I flew from Liverpool Airport last Saturday. I had saw a few topics on here about liquids but being the ****** that I am hadnt bothered to read them. As we went through security to the gate (you only have to go through here about 40 minutes before the flight) but because security was so tight it took us half an hour to queue to get through. We had deoderant, mouthwash, toothpaste and shaving foam taken off us. We put these in our hand laugage because we were trying to save on weight in the cases. They were all taken off us by security and we had to empty the babies bottle.
This was the tightest I have ever seen security at an airport (and i fly quite a lot). Even the kids had to take their cardies off and put them through the conveyor. My husband was practically stripped off and once he got dressed he moved along a bit further and was frisked again!!
Hope this helps!!
My advice would be to buy a bottle of water out of a vending machine once you get through to the gate, I know you wanted to avoid expense but this would probably be the cheapest way of getting a drink at this point and you can take that on the plane with you then.0
