Or it might be the company has recognised it needs to mix things up a little, and is now employing a more diverse range of people, and things will slowly change.

I suspect this to be the case, even I subscribed to it coming from an environment of blissful silence - the change did 'me good.

Bet the OP would moan if said co-workers preferred to sit on their behinds all day claiming benefits.

Funny thing is these people cling onto consumerism and brands as some sort of establishment in itself - Hence much of what they earn goes back into the economy. Not a day goes by without a parcel from ASOS or amazon making its way past me, as well its contents being a dominant topic of discussion.

Well thank your lucky stars they work with you evidently spend a lot of time watching their deliveries & conversations, as with out them I'd guess you would have sod all to do...

Edit: I buy from amazon, so I guess I'm one of these people....
    Dwy galon, un dyhead,
    Dwy dafod ond un iaith,
    Dwy raff yn cydio’n ddolen,
    Dau enaid ond un taith.

Are you aware that you are coming over much more like a social misfit with food stains down their shirt than some sort of higher class of being? is it deliberate?

When I look at my reflection in the office toilet mirror

And that must be be tricky considering how far up your own !!!!! that head of yours is.

Do you need a chair or is it a full length mirror?

Its often sensible to avoid politics in the office. Some exceptions in some roles, but generally people sensibly keep to fairly neutral topics.

I agree with this, such discussions are not for the office. Too much scope to upset someone and suddenly find youself in someones bad books at best or without a job at worst. A lot will depend on what current affairs you wish to discuss but I'd suggest at a minimum anything involving politics or religion are out.

I also didn't realise the word Chav was regional, thought it was more a mindset. Clearly these people aren't isolated to the East End so do different parts of the country use different words for them? I'm only familiar with Neds in Scotland, never heard any others.

As said, if they were really chavs, they wouldnt be working, im guessing they are not wearing dirty tracksuits either? If they are then where on earth are you working??

You are prob just working with kids.
  • You think they're chavs, they probably think you're boring as f....
Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked
  • Does it matter what someone's social background is? One thing I hate about living in the UK, we've got this looking down at people culture.

Put down your Daily Mail / Express / Conservative Party mainfesto and learn to realise, we're all people.
  • I work with a number of people whose main conversation topics are football, Pokemon, Game of Thrones, what they did at the weekend etc. I have never thought of calling them chavs, I call it being 20.

But really, ask you manager about getting some Equality and Diversity training for you.

I wish I could ignore them!

This could easily be achieved by resigning!
