E-on and winter costs

I've been on the fixed tarriff v20 for a good few months now, the cost compared to my last tarriff is amazing... but what i'm wondering is, is if my costs will change at all come winter, as i recall there being a set price of energy for each season... and given that i still "pre-pay" by topping up through the members section on E-on's website, will the price change apply to me or does it only apply to those that pay via direct debit.

I don't recall paying extra on any given month respective to what i typically paid, but just thought i'd make sure and ask.

Cheers.

    Hi K.S.

I'm really sorry, I don't think I fully understand what you mean :o

If you're on the Fixed V20 tarrif, then your unit prices won't change until the tariff finishes, then you can pick a new plan.

However, you still need to pay for the amount of energy that you use, regardless of how you pay.

Useage does normally increase in winter, as we have more lights on, heating on etc, so this might make the amount you need to pay higher.

I'd always say to make sure you've got the account billed up to accurate reads, so you know you're paying for what you're using and the account is a true reflection.

    Does that help a little?

I mean the cost of a unit, kw/h i think...

Last year i saw a page on the e-on site that had a different cost associated with each season but i can't find it anymore.

So is it safe to say that my energy prices won't change at all when the overall demand increases? is it not a practice employed anymore? I really wish i could find the page again :|

The EoN rep was quite clear. The price you pay per kwh will not change because you are on a fixed tariff.
However the amount you have to pay will be more in winter due to heating etc. This is normally catered for by setting a monthly direct debit that balances out over the full year.
If you are on quarterly bills then the winter bill should be higher than the summer ones, but perhaps the V20 tariff is DD only.

The eon rep (Helena) didn't quite understand the question, so i explained it further, easy easy ;)

You can be on either form of payment on the V20 fixed tariff, i'm still on prepayment because i prefer it, so i can go onto the e-on website on my computer and top up any amount i like...

Yes K.S. the unit prices won't change, but as we've said above the amount you have to pay might, as your usage increases, decreases.

There's some quite good info about the tariff on the website, but I'm not allowed to post links. Sorry about that :o

This tariff isn't available if you have pre-payment meter though, I assume you mean, making payments on to your online account to build up a credit ready for the next bill?

    Thank you

I'm using prepayment with smart meters, i can log into my account on the eon website and top-up any amount, i also have a little monitor in my flat that shows me current balance of both meters and my usage history... it's quite handy, it wails when i'm low on credit as a reminder to top up too

My question wasn't about my usage but only about the unit cost in different seasons, i could've misread the site but i don't think i did, i always keep an eye out for changes to my bills and the diagram i saw had 4 boxes together with a picture for each season and a different unit price in each box, being cheaper in the warmer seasons and more expensive in the colder (with winter being the most expensive)

It musn't be something that is used anymore, or it was just taken down, i'll keep my eye on my usage and see if it changes with respect to what i'm referring to.

    Thanks for trying anyway :)
