You are posting rubbish!
Your theory does not explain why the associated rear light goes off when the brakes are applied and makes absolutely no sense!pappa_golf wrote: »yes , bulb does not work , can YOU not change it?
why are you believing this earthing thing? , change the bulb!
You obviously are not familiar with a classic earth fault that causes this very effect, which is usually caused by a bad/loose connection or corrosion.0 -

Not rubbish at all, Dont forget the brake and tail light are a single bulb.
The brake light bulb has blown and the tail light works as normal. Until the brake is applied where a voltage runs through the partial brake filament and shorts out the tail light.
Could be that or even a simple loose fitting bulb, flowing enough electrical pixies to light the tail bulb but not enough pixies available to light the brake light bulb also.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
OK there is an easy answer to this
firstly change the bulb
if the fault is still there then check for other problemsSave a Rachael

1. Change bulb
2. While changing bulb check earth connector for build up of corrosion and clean both the spade connector and plug.0 -

That would still light one or other filament - at least until it blows the part of the side light filament between the "short" and earth, which will now be carrying a higher current than it was designed for.Could be that or even a simple loose fitting bulb, flowing enough electrical pixies to light the tail bulb but not enough pixies available to light the brake light bulb also.
Which is one form of a bad earth.0 -
I'm not familiar with a Matiz - but do the rear lights actually have twin-filament bulbs for side and brake?
I thought that the trend these days was to have all separate bulbs.0
