up to around £3000

Any laptop will do those things. If you don't need to do Office-type tasks then maybe a Chromebook or similar would suit you.0

For £300, you will looking at intel i3-5005u/ i3-6100u, 4GB or 8GB RAM
Like these
Lenovo Ideapad 310 Laptop, Intel Core i3, 8GB RAM, 1TB, 15.6", Silver
£300 from John Lewis It is £50 off for £300 right now. Personally will grab this due to warranty.
Lenovo B50-50 i3-5005u, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD if you don't need storage.
Personally won't have preference for brand. These just pop up with best spec/ warranty for the money. You can just google to choose your preferred brand. They are all £250 - 300.0
