Hi Eco Miser when you say 'Why not just pay more into the same ISA each year.'
Does that mean I can keep paying into a stock and shares ISA over the years whilst also paying into a cash ISA with a different provider?
Many Thanks for your help in advance.
But as usual when cash ISAs are mentioned you may want to check if it's actually worth using a cash ISA.
The only reason for opening a new S&S ISA with different provider is if you need to add funds or shares that the existing provider doesn't offer (or doesn't offer at a reasonable price)
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • Thanks for that jimjames.
I am very new to the concept of a stocks and shares isa. I've been reading and reeeading these forums plus the links you good folk kindly post.
I do 100% want to start a s&si in the new tax year. However/honestly I'm not sure if I am daunted because it is new to me, or is it because I'm just thick!
Also I'm a bit scared that when I take the plunge to do a s&si folk will be rubbing their hands as they see me coming.

You can SUBSCRIBE (ie add new money) to ONE stocks and shares ISA, ONE cash ISA and ONE Innovative Finance ISA per tax year. The combined total of "new money" added per tax year must not exceed the ISA limit. The stocks and shares ISA you subscribe to can be the same one as you subscribed to in previous years, and it can contain within the ISA wrapper any number of fund holdings/share holdings/IT holdings.
