Fraudulent Charge on my Post Office CC from Expedia

Hi, I recently found a charge on my post office CC from Expedia for £361.58 that I didn't recognise (I haven't used Expedia since 2013 - and they have confirmed this from looking at my account).
Initially I contacted the post office to confirm everything and see if they had any other details that could help when I called Expedia. Something at the end of the conversation bothered me though, as they had asked me if I had used the website previously, to which I said yes, but I don't remember if it was with my CC or other cards. The person from the post office then said that could change their position i.e. if they could help me if Expedia don't do anything (as in they may not be able to because I might have already given Expedia my CC details at some point in the past).
I'm currently waiting for expedia to come back to me - they've received my email and have asked for 5 working days as of today. I just want to know my position re both Expedia and the CC company in this situation if for instance Expedia don't help for whatever reason?
Any help would be useful so that I know how to approach the issue should it arise.

You should just report it to your CC issuer and let them deal with it. They will contact Expedia on your behalf.0

All victims of card fraud have legal protection to make sure they don’t lose out financially. It doesn’t matter if your card has been used in a shop, online or abroad – you are protected by the Consumer Credit Act.
If you suspect you are a victim of fraud, it’s important to contact your card issuer straight away so that they can stop your card. As long as you weren’t involved in the fraud and haven’t acted negligently your card company will refund the full amount (the most you will ever have to pay is £50, although this is extremely rare).
All innocent card-fraud victims are entitled to a refund, including a refund of any interest or charges on their account as a result of the fraud. If your credit card company believes that you were responsible for any disputed transactions, it’s up to them to prove it.0 -
Thanks for the speedy answers. Very useful to know and confirmed what I suspected to be the case. As I said I have contacted the issuer already, but they said I would need to contact Expedia first to see if they would refund me so that's what I've done.
For the life of me I can't remember making a booking on Expedia and they've confirmed on the phone that there's nothing logged against my account. They requested a copy of the details in my statement so they could check out the transaction and let me know what's happened so that's what they are currently doing.
Even checked with my wife that she hadn't borrowed it to make a surprise booking of any sort but that would be way out of character for such a sum. It did confuse me as only a month earlier we had booked loads of travel for next year's holiday but none with Expedia - everything bar one hotel was booked directly with suppliers.
Indeed in my email accounts I can't see anything from Expedia since 2011/2013 respectively...
Time will tell, but thanks for the advice.0
