Hello All,
Need some advice on my recent dealing with limobroker.co.uk. In May I called them up to ask if they could do an open dated booking for a 2 hour London trip in a limo which me and my friends could give as a gift to our friends on their anniversary. Their salesman said they could do this and also promised that he would put in a note in the booking to decorate the limo with balloons to celebrate the occasion. He further told me that the total cost would be £225 which I offered to pay at the time but was told that in order to make a booking I just need to pay £50 as a deposit and the balance of £175 would be payable once my friend contacts them to confirm a date of the booking. I checked with him more than once about how the process would work and he said when your friend calls to confirm a date and time we will then contact you to take the balance payment of £175 and the limo would arrive on the designated day. I paid the £50 deposit by credit card and received a booking confirmation email which clearly states balance to pay £175.
I sent the email confirmation to my friend as a gift and told him to contact limobroker.co.uk to confirm the date / time when he wanted to go for the trip. He contacted them last week and was told to pay £275 in order to confirm the booking and then he contacted me to help. I contacted limobroker.co.uk via email and sent them the confirmation email asking them to take the balance payment of £175 and confirm the booking. They responded and said that since my booking did not have a date in order to confirm the booking now I will need to pay the driver £225 in cash on the day.
In my email exchanges with them they have ignored what I have said about not being told about price changes at the time of making the booking since my key requirement was to make an open dated booking but they are not accepting it and are saying either I can confirm the booking if I agree to pay £225 to the driver in cash or I will lose my £50 deposit since it is non-refundable.
In my view I was mis-sold the open dated booking option by their salesman as I was told clearly when I made the booking that this is the total price to pay and now they are not willing to honor that. Can you please advise if this comes under breach of consumer rights act and can they be reported to Trading Standards for this conduct?
Many thanks!!!

Can't give advice but if you search the boards you will see numerous complaints about this dodgy company.0

I think you need to try for a refund of the £50, with a LBA if asking them fails.
your email exchanges should be proof enough for you to win IMO.
of course even then they may not refund you0 -

As you paid by credit card and the total amount of the service was over £100 then your credit card company is equally liable for any failures (even if you only paid the £50 deposit by credit card).
I therefore suggest you ask your credit card company to provide a solution as they should be easier to deal with, and if they are not you can complain to them and if they do not resolve it to your satisfaction you can take your complaint to the independent Financial Ombudsman Service.
