Seems pointless to pay for a subscription to ip streams to access pirated content , when the same content is available as VOD !!
if you are inclined to steal your media in the first place that is !!0 -
I have IPTV from BT TV and guess my catchup services are also IPTV .0
-
Catchup services are Video on Demand , bit different0
-
Silly me yes of course they are as opposed to my live IPTV feeds.
Guess it depends upon what the OP wants to watch as a lot is not available VOD .
The IPTV services the OP is looking at are many and varied from free to paid for . Google would be my advice .0 -
A long time ago, I used a box I bought on eBay to stream Freeview over IPTV. It worked well, although the resolution was pretty poor.
It was intended to work over the Internet years ago, rather than on a LAN, so I guess the designers thought that the bandwidth would be the limiting factor, rather than pixel density.Catchup services are Video on Demand , bit different
According to Wikipedia, IPTV falls into three categories:
- Live TV
- Time-shifted catch-up TV
- Video on demand
So, it looks like VOD would normally be considered IPTV.

I disagree with that terminology, wikipedia needs updating.
IPTV is presented as a constant stream, much like live tv channels are transmitted over air.
You join that stream and watch it from where it is up to.
The diferentiating factor with VOD is that the content exists as a file somewhere, which you start the streaming of "On demand"0 -
Reads to me as my IPTV service does just what it says on the tin .
Internet Protocol as opposed to Aerial .
Be that VOD or Live .
Don't understand how else to describe a service that comes over the internet only .
from the wiki .
IPTV is defined as the secure and reliable delivery to subscribers of entertainment video and related services. These services may include, for example, Live TV, Video On Demand (VOD) and Interactive TV (iTV). These services are delivered across an access agnostic, packet switched network that employs the IP protocol to transport the audio, video and control signals. In contrast to video over the public Internet, with IPTV deployments, network security and performance are tightly managed to ensure a superior entertainment experience, resulting in a compelling business environment for content providers, advertisers and customers alike0 -
Yes i admit i didnt read the article properly and agree that VOD can be classified as IPTV
Because thats what it is i suppose, television over IP
But that isnt what most people mean when they talk about IPTV, and isnt what the OP was talking about either0 -
No the OP meant the illegal streaming services via an Android box .( a subject that the mods delete on this forum ) Those services usually also supply VOD as well .0
