2 months into a job

Hi

Im 2 months into a new better paying job. I dont have a good history because I am always at the limit of my credit cards. I pay the minimum and use the little ive gathered (I know this isnt the best decision) and I have only been late on one credit card payment this past year.

I could go and explain why I've got to the point where Im at. but that would take all day.

I have applied and got my application cancelled by Zopa because my contract has probation which is 6 months - Im only 2 months in. My question will any lender lend me because i still havent gone past 6 months.

I need money to survive the rest of the month £300 (food, petrol, DD's) (payday is 25th) and I need to register for CIMA, my employer will pay for my exams and study I have to just do the initial registration and claim exemptions £700. (there is pressure from my employer to start my part so they can do their own)

or should i resign myself to the fact that because of probation I cant get a loan. what else can I do? Im failing to think outside the box here. If you have any more questions please ask me. and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If you get a loan this month, then next month will be even harder..

Random expenses happen at all times of the year, you need more than just a loan.

For now, look at the above replies - for the future look at other ways of clearing your debt (it's hard, I know) or increasing your income.

A loan will not help you in these circumstances judging by the way you handle your credit cards.

cancel all non essential direct debits and try and live as frugally as possible. If your salary goes into your bank account then you may be able to get your bank to agree to an overdraft. Going forward you need to sort out your credit cards and reduce your debt. Maybe a second job in the interim period. Zopa charge extortionate interest rates so they did you a favour by turning you down. You need to explain to your employers you cannot afford £700 at this precise moment. Can they do you an interest free loan for this over the next few months?

  • Can you get your employer to pay upfront for CIMA? when I registered I don't recall it being so expensive. Otherwise, could you put it on a company credit card? This is what we did when I was studying.

If this is your second month into your better paid job what happened when you got your first pay cheque?

Best post up all your debts and outgoings and look for things to sell to get you by until next payday. A loan isnt the answer unfortunatley, it will only lead to further money issues in a month or 2.
  • @Brassic Non essential DD's I guess are my contact lens and gym members and phone bill.
Essential DD's are my credit cards, Im afraid to go over my current account and get bank charges bcoz i missed the DD
I can perhaps take my laptop to cash coverts and see what I can get for it. Assuming I would but it back at the end of the month.
I am still trying my family, I have a cousin who said he gets paid next week, so i'll get back to him next week.
I will try look for cash in hand jobs because I dont want to go PAYE, and mess up my tax code this month. I've just got it right so im expecting a little more in my pay ME.

@DCFC as stated above, its not that I dont want to work, I just dont want my tax code to change which will affect my main income. I understand having 2 jobs messes up ur tax code initially but can take a while to fix (using ur tax free allowance on my full time work) I think they'll put me on emergency for both jobs

@Jamies I really need to come out this debt cycle I agree. I should be better off in my new job,

@enthusiactic I am already in an overdraft, but will try and see if the bank can increase it some more

@something, no my employer wont pay for the initals, - I asked.

@foxy - my first pay was for a week as I started at the end of Aug, payroll managed to squeeze me in therfore this is my first full month - so in sept i survived by borrowing from my sister which I paid back in this months full pay.

Thank you all for your replies, I will update u as this month goes by *wipes sweat off brow*

What about applying/asking for a credit limit increase on your existing cards?

Or applying for a new credit card altogether? https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/eligibility/credit-cards/
