trouble with EGR valve Astra diesel still not fixed ...help
My 2.0tdi 1999 (T) astra diesel has 2 lights on the dashboard.
No codes showing but one iwas coolant and the AA picked this up and said it was the sensor. Sensor changed now still light on. The EML is on after many attempts to clear and car keeps going into 'home' mode and reduces power. The valves and exhaust system have been cleaned out and and EGR(?) valve changed. As it's intermittent it doesn't leave a code and so far 4 garages have failed to sort it. any ideas??

If the EML light is/was on then there should be a fault code sorted, take it to the Vauxhall dealer and get them to read it with their diagnostic computer.
I would of taken it to the Vauxhall dealer after attempt number 2 if both garages had a scanner for the ECU and they failed to get the fault code.0 -

All were Vauxhall garages!!!0 -
If the light is on then there will be a code stored - were they using standard obd software or genuine vx stuff? Generic fault readers on the vx will only pick up engine faults - you need something like vauxcom or opcom to pick up faults in the other modules.
Saying that, I am not sure 99 vx are obd II (or eobd) anyway which would stop the generic readers being able to do much - but genuine VX stuff should be ok.0 -
