Taxes and Fees on Flights to USA

I have booked a family holiday to USA, New York... Expedia booking showed taxes and fees of £1467.44, which is 40% of the total cost, so iasked what are the taxes and fees made up of......... turns out they charged my 12 year old APD (the £73)... so im getting that back.... BUT questions are..

1. What are all these taxes, why arent they itemised, does anyone know ? What are these taxes ?
2. Financial services would NEVER be alowed to get with this lack of of transperancy, why is travel industry ?

3.80 GBP-YCAE - United States: Customs User Fee
12.30 GBP-USAP - United States: Domestic Transportation Tax/Int'l Arrival Tax/Int'l Departure Tax
12.30 GBP-USAS - United States: Domestic Transportation Tax/Int'l Arrival Tax/Int'l Departure Tax

BTW:
Within the USA (and Canada) nearly all prices are quoted excluding sales tax. That applies to accommodation, shops and restaurants. However, gas (petrol) prices include sales tax.

Next time fly from Dublin and pay no departure tax at all.

And.... Clear US customs before you have even taken off

Wouldn't appear that you're familiar with financial services charging practices then!

which only works if you're flying directly to America, not having a connecting flight en-route e.g AMS, LHR etc
