First Utility pressurised my OAP mother to change tariffs early
Options
anybody else have this happen to their OAP parents?
they started emailing her about 3 months before the end of the tariff 31/10/16
I told her to just ignore the emails, then on 27th aug they phoned her up, despite her opting out of contacting her etc. and convinced her to change to a new 2 yr deal
this is almost a copy of the Olive Cooke charity fundraising issue

Seems like the should not have done it.
Are there any fees for switiching tariff (most 2 year tariffs do).
If so, raise a formal complaint via letter. Ask them to release you from the tariff without penalty as your mother should not have been contacted and is now locked into ( I assume) an uncompetative tariff.
You could ask for an apology and maybe a gesture of good will in terms of some compensation, but do not hold out hope.
If they fail to resolve the complaint to your satisfaction, you then go to the ombudsman. The whole complaints proceedure is on this site in the energy section.
