Cancelling Sky (tv only) by email?

I know in the past there was no option to cancel by email, but just looked on My Sky and it says you can write or email to cancel so that's new to me.
It does say 'we may need to contact you to verify your details' - in other words we'll call you tell you why Sky is great and try to persuade you to change your mind!

I'm going to be abroad the day my 31 day notice period kicks in and have no intention of trying to call them from overseas in order to cancel it.
Just wondering if anyone has tried it by email and how they got on?

Only other option is to call them when I get back but that will mean paying an additional 3 weeks at full price.

You can also write to us or send an email telling us that you'd like to cancel. We may need to call you back to verify your details and process your request but don't worry, your notice period will be effective from the date we received your letter or email

Thanks, yes that's exactly what I've just seen on the website too.

I'm hoping to hear from other MSE members who may have cancelled by email who can tell me about the actual process (ie how many harrassing phone calls I can expect from Sky;)).
  • Hi, I cancelled by email this month and about 5 days later they called me to confirm and explained other options, eg discussing whether or not I'd keep landline & broadband, which I probably won't.
Very easy. They backdated it to my email date.
    Good luck.

Might not be the right thread but can't find any for cancelling sky tv ...

I took the Sky Q offer from October at £30 and since then have been trying to cancel. I've twice changed the engineer date and now now they won't let me change.

I've emailed them twice and they say just let the engineer know of any problems !!! (And i get the acknowledgment email "we may need to speak with you"). I don't want to let the engineer know because I don't want him/her to visit !!!

Anyone know how I can cancel an order I don't want installed?

    Thanks
