Does anybody know of a Bank in Britain that would accept opening a new account, but with a foreign address? I live in Tenerife, Spain and currently have a Lloyds Current and On-line account and would like to transfer to another bank account in the UK. Lloyds would not open a different account for me. Many thanks.:j

This isn't true. Since 18th September when the EU Payment Account Directive came into force in UK law all banks must be able to provide at least basic banking facilities to non-UK residents who live in the EEA.
Many banks will only allow you to have an account with them if you don't have one with another provider though but will allow you to switch your existing account to them as part of the process.
The details aren't often well signposted on their websites and may be a manual form you have to complete but it is now possible.

They have to now (unless they have a legitimate reason not to)GingerFurball wrote: »Lloyds won't open accounts for non UK residents. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Since they live outside the UK, they are unlikely to get borrowing facilities anyway.GingerFurball wrote: »That's a basic account. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
