Windows fitted 8 years ago - Indemnity important?

Understood you point. What is the best way to determine safety and suitability of the installation of the windows installed years before in that case please, can you suggest?
As a layman, I've not noticed any leaks etc. or signs of distress around them or any cracks for that matter.0 -
If the windows are double glazed, open and shut (and lock) correctly and have not "blown" ( the sealing around the glass has failed allowing the windows to mist), they should be OK. Unfortunately you cannot check whether the correct lintel was used (you would have to remove brick/block work), but if any visible brickwork seems to be pushing down on the window, then that is a sign something is not right. If sellers have kept bills/receipts these may show if correct lintel used.
All properties are likely to have some faults and you will probably find that the window installation is OK. Even if it is not, replacing window(s) and installing new lintel(s) and brickwork plus redecoration won't cost a fortune. But if you find something visibly wrong, re-negotiate. Or consider another property. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
