Me and my other half (shellsuit) have just found out about this new API for passenegers travelling to spain requiring to give additional information about ourselves.
We have noticed all the threads on here regarding this so we checked our booking information.
Can you provide this information yourself via a 3rd party site??? because mytravel have charged us £20 for their services which sounds a bit steep!
It says on the department of transport site that we have to give passport numbers and that the information has to be passed over at least 3 hours prior to flight time which even if you check in 3 hours before wouldn't really happen due to admin times e.t.c. and we were never asked for this.
Do any other airlines charge for this service??
Thanks in advance spongebob squarepants :j

No, you need to provide the information via your airline.
Why are mytravel charging you £20 to collect this? Is this information via their website or through a travel agent?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Yes mytravel have charged us £20 (£10 each) for providing our details to the spanish authorities. Seems a bit steep just to do something they have to do by law. We booked through their website but we haven't been asked for passport numbers. My dad and step mum are travelling to spain a week today via easyjet and gave their information today free of charge.0 -
Are you sure it is not Air Passenger Duty that you are referring to?Gone ... or have I?0

We still can't find how to submit these details beforehand, instead of messing about on the day of the flight.
We are flying with MyTravel and although the site tells us we have to do this, it doesn't tell us how?!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Not sure how to do it with MyTravel, but I really wouldn't worry about doing it at the airport, it takes no time at all.Gone ... or have I?0
