in Credit cards
Evening everyone just looking for a bit of advice.
At the weekend I cancelled my Santander 123 Credit card since the introductory 0% on purchases was soon coming to an and I was paying £3 a month for nothing really.
So looking at getting a new 0% card on purchases. Been looking at two the Tesco credit card and M&S bank. Not sure which one to go with really. Tesco is the longest at 28 month compared to 25 with Marks. I guess the rewards wouldnt be that much of a big deal since I wouldnt be spending crazy amounts and we have no Tesco near by. The plus for the M&S card is I would get a better apr with being staff. Toss of a coin really.
One last thing should I leave it a while to apply for a new card with only cancelling at the weekend?
Thank you.

Have you any other credit cards or was the Santander 123 MasterCard your only one?
If you haven't made too many credit applications in recent months there's nothing to stop you going ahead and applying for a new 0% purchase card.
Seeing as you work for Marks and Spencers you *might* be better off for opting for that card over Tesco Bank; if you don't frequently shop at Tesco you'd have to spend a least £8 out of store to earn 1 Clubcard point so it wouldn't pay to look down that road?
Funnily enough I've closed my 123 card tonight; did toy with keeping it despite the £3/month fee as it wasn't affected by the caps put in place last September by Santander. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
The APR doesn't matter during a 0% intro period does it?
Are you sure you get a better APR as M&S staff? Have they told you? How would you ever know?...unless they give you one lower than the representative rate.
Tesco has lower monthly minimum payments (1% vs 2.5%)...if that's important?
The Santander card could take 1/2/3 months to show as settled on your CRA files. So if you want to maximise the next card's limit then maybe hold off applying until you've seen it settled on your CRA reports?0 -
Morning thanks for replying.
The only other credit card I have is a Halifax clarity card which i got at the start of 2014 for my trip to the US.
The preferential rate is advertised on the staff perks portal and is available to all staff when applying.
I guess the M&S card would work better from a points point of view with me spending regular and also getting staff discount also.
