Best way to access internet when travelling in Europe?

We are off to Hungary for a week on Friday - staying in a rented apartment in Budapest. It is advertised with wifi in all rooms but there are one or two reviews which say the owners have recently fittedout some new apartments and there the wifi is not that strong. What does any one recommend as the best way to access the internet when in Europe? I will have my tablet, OH his laptop. (We are travelling overland there and back.) We have phone plans with EE Orange but imagine this would work out expensive. Are there other alternatives? I can go into the EE shop tomorrow if necessary.

Almost every bar or coffee shop you go in will have free wifi.
Otherwise turn your gadgets off and enjoy yourselves.0 -
Data/calls/texts is included across Europe as part of my EE plan. Check and see if yours is the same.

Hungary is included in Three's Feel At Home offering. You can use that for your Tablet if it has has a place for a SIM.
http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home You can pick up a SIM here with data included for around a fiver. Don't expect speeds comparable to what you'll get at home.

I pay 1.99 a day with my phone company 02 for a travel bolt on. You only pay for the days you use0

Interestingly I texted EE on 159 to get roaming rates in Hungary and got immediate response. OH, who is also with EE but on a business plan, also texted EE on 159 for his roaming rates, and got no reply........0

Seconded!
I'm curently refurbishing a house in the UK that doesn't have a landline or wifi connection. I bought this Mifi from 3 for £50 and have a prepaid sim for it that cost £30 and is valid for 12mths.

It works very well. I've used it in Greece and you can use it in Hungary.
