Nail polish remover damaged sofa

Kids got biro all over cream leather sofa. Tried various ways of removing pen but only got slightly faded pen lines. Was recommended a tiny bit of acetone free nail polish remover. Yeah, it got rid of biro but it has taken the top layer of leather off. Luckily, only one small patch was attempted (still many pen marks everything). But this patch is flaking. Worried the sofa will get more damaged because of this patch. Can this be fixed?
I feel like a right idiot. Haven't had sofa that long. It was bought in January.
p.s. does anyone know a safe way to remove biro from a cream leather sofa? I have tried nail polish remover, disinfectant wipe, makeup remover wipe, washing up liquid with water, hand soap with water, doktor power original paste and other things that my tired brain can't think of.

Vodka or alcohol wipe? Try on a hidden area first.0

Hairspray will get biro off leather. When my daughter was little she managed to scribble on ours and someone on here told me hairspray. Just spray it over leave a few seconds and wipe off. It didn't damage our leather at all, but always best to try a tiny bit first. When you've finished you can get a good leather repair kits to help with the damaged bit.0

Those packs of kids wipes seem to get most things off most things!0

Try iso-propyl alcohol - it's a fairly good organic solvent and shouldn't damage the leather. If you've got one of those things for cleaning up CDs and DVDs then the spray will most likely be iso-propyl alcohol (aka propan-2-ol).
I'm not sure I'd use hairspray, getting that off the sofa could be another nasty job.
Maybe you could just colour in the rest of the sofa in the same colour?0 -
