House Sale Completion - what next

In the probate sale we completed last year; when we asked, our solicitor offered to transfer by CHAPS same day for a fee (actually a very reasonable sum of money), or by BACS f.o.c. that takes 3 banking days to clear (iirc).
In this day and age and world of tech it's insulting the amount banks charge for an electronic transaction.0 -
I'm surprised folks have to ask their solicitors as I've seen this kind of detail in in the information pack the solicitor gives you initially and/or it's mentioned in the first meeting. Presumably people do read all the information they are given ...
Of course it could be the OP isn't at the stage of instructing a solicitor yet so is asking generally. If a large amount then it may be pay for a CHAPS transfer which is same day if done before the cut off point (12pm?) or next working day. Or it could be faster payment, BACS or cheque depending on the amount and the solicitor's procedures.
Opps four guesses LOL0 -

Or they could be using the solicitor of the poster today whose solicitor sent his as a cheque by post in an envelope without a stamp, so he had to go to the post office to collect it more than a week later......
Is that guess number 5?

My husband's solicitor made the transfer by CHAPS on the morning the sale completed and my husband had the funds within an hour or so. So it can happen.0
